Today I will be reviewing the Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoo in the colouor 85 Light in Purple. I have been slowly migrating away from using eyeshadow, and have only been doing a winged out eyeliner with strong lipstick for the past few months. However, when I was in Tesco, this colour really caught my eye and thought it looked absolutely gorgeous, I couldn't not pick this up. The cream eyeshadow retails for £4.99 in the UK.
The colour is pretty unique in that it is duo chrome and it's a purple/blue/silver colour. It was difficult to capture the duo chrome(ness) in the swatch photos - so do check it out instore if you ever come across it!
As you can see in the photos to the right, the outside rim appears more purple, but for the most part, I think that this looks more like a blue silver colour.
Unfortunately, the beautiful colour does not translate well onto the skin and it definitely appears nicer in the pot than it does on the eyes. It is still a nice colour, just not as nice as I had expected it to be. Turns out it's not very flattering on the eyelids either. This has further reinforced that I should really do my research before buying things on impulse, especially since I hardly ever wear eyeshadow anymore.
You can take a look at the swatches below. I tried to take pictures of the swatch at different angles to try to show how the angle can change the way the colour appears, but I don't think it really translated on camera.
Another thing I was pretty disappointed with was the lasting power. In my opinion, it does not last as long as some of the other Color Tattoos that I have. It is also pretty hard to work with and applies pretty patchy, very different from the other Color Tattoos that I own.
I guess if you're really in love with the colour, you can prolly make it work and you might like it, otherwise, I wouldn't really recommend this colour tattoo. I think it was a bit of a disappointment and let down if I was completely honest. But hey, that's just my opinion.
❤❤♡♡♡ (2 out of 5 hearts) ^^
I absolutely love my bronze and taupe Maybelline colour tattoos, I don't know why the formula for this particular shade is different (or appears to be different). If you're in the UK, I would highly recommend you test out the swatches before just buying it.
Hope you found the review and pictures useful, and let me know what your thoughts are about this if you've tried it, and until next time..
